Breakfast for Babies raises record amount for March of Dimes

Breakfast For Babies has record-setting turnout

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The 2018 Breakfast for Babies was a record-breaking success!

During the 13th year of the fundraiser officials say 5,278 boxes were sold and over $53,000 was raised. The event was held at the Chappy’s Deli, located on Perry Hill Road.

For just $7, customers got a good breakfast and helped raise money for premature babies across the state.

“March of Dimes helped us tremendously. Our daughter was born at 24 weeks, 1 pound, 7 ounces and all of the things that March of Dimes has done research helped get her out of the hospital,” March of Dimes Ambassadors, the McCormick Family said. “It helped her thrive, and now we have a happy healthy 2-and-a-half-year-old, and you can see how big she is today,”

All of Friday’s proceeds go to benefit the March of Dimes.

"We provide a lot of support for every baby in Alabama to have a healthy start through the march of dimes. With Montgomery’s help, we’ve raised over $300,000 in the last 12 years,” Mike Castanza with Chappy’s Deli said. “This year we hoped to raise around $50,000, sell 5,000 breakfasts at $7 a pop, plus all the sponsorships. So, it’s a great event, Montgomery gets behind it and it has a big impact on every baby in Alabama having a chance at a healthy start,”
