After a mostly quiet start to our morning, we are now seeing widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms. An approaching frontal boundary is slowly sliding through the state this afternoon; locally heavy rain is ongoing, and flash flooding has already occurred across north Alabama. While the flood risk is lower here, we’ll have to keep an eye on any training thunderstorms for localized flooding issues. Severe weather is not expected, but locally strong storms could develop in the heating of the day.
As the front stalls, high rain chances continue for the rest of the week.
