MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A heavy, soaking rain will drench Alabama tonight; most of the state will pick up 1-2″ of rainfall, with some isolated pockets of 3″ possible. The heaviest rain will fall through roughly 8am Friday, then we’ll deal with pesky, scattered showers through much of Friday afternoon, Friday night and Saturday morning.
While we do expect a good helping of rain, we do not anticipate this being a severe weather set-up; cloud cover from early Thursday will limit the amount of surface based instability in the atmosphere, so the worst we would likely see are a few embedded thunderstorms.
Saturday afternoon and evening look dry - so the weather should be cool but dry for the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl (4:30pm, ESPN) in Montgomery. Cool (but not COLD) air headlines the forecast for Sunday, Monday and much of next week.
