MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Troy Trojans have a chance at history next Saturday when they take on Buffalo in the 2018 Dollar General Bowl.
With the win, the Trojans will have at least ten wins in each of the last three seasons and the 31 wins over the three years will be the most ever in a three-year stretch for the program.
The Trojans have a big chip on their shoulder after the way they ended the regular season with a loss to Appalachian State and missing out on a chance to win back-to-back Sun Belt Conference titles.
The team is now more focused than ever to go down to Mobile and leave for the victory.
“I’m really proud of what we’ve done. 9-3 and 7-1 in our league, but didn’t play very well in that championship type game,” said head coach Neal Brown. “I think it was the championship game if you look at that versus App. We just didn’t play very well for whatever reason.”
“It put the fuel on the fire,” said safety Cedarius Rookard. “We lost our championship game so we’re going to treat this game like a championship and we’re going to go out and play your hardest and hopefully come out with a W.”
The Trojans began their preparation for Buffalo Wednesday afternoon and will continue to do so throughout the week. Troy and Buffalo will face each other in the 2018 Dollar General Bowl next Saturday. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
