Home extensively damaged after Montgomery fire

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Montgomery home was extensively damaged in a fire early Monday morning.

According to Capt. Jason Cupps, firefighters responded to the 3500 block of Suwannee Drive. At the scene, heavy smoke could be seen coming from the attic of the single-story home.

Here’s the official word from the incident commander on scene: “Engine 4, Engine 20, Truck 41, Rescue 91, and Car 31 responded to the 3500 block of Suwannee Drive on a possible structure fire. R-91 arrived on scene and observed heavy smoke showing from the attic of a single story residential structure. Units made an aggressive interior fire attack, while simultaneously conducting a search of the occupancy. Crews were able to locate and extinguish the fire. There are no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians at this time. Cupps says crews were able to locate and extinguish the fire without injuries to civilians or personnel. The home has extensive damage throughout.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
