MOBILE, AL (WSFA) - It is time to bowl yet again for the Troy Trojans.
The Trojans made the trek to Mobile on Tuesday to begin game week preparations for Saturday's Dollar General Bowl.
Troy (9-3) faces MAC foe Buffalo (10-3). It is the first ever meeting between the two programs.
Troy coach Neal Brown was pleased with how the Trojans practiced on Tuesday at Saraland High School.
"I thought we had a lot for energy. We moved around. We looked fast. I think the days off were good. You know, get them some time off after finals to kind of relax," said Brown.
The Trojans are chasing history. A win on Saturday would be the tenth of the season and mark a third-straight season of at least ten wins.
It would be a program first.
"We have unfinished business. We have another opportunity to win a championship. We can be the champions of the Dollar General Bowl. We need to show up and finish the season the right way," stated Brown.
"That's been Coach Brown's slogan, "Unfinished Business". We are trying to get to ten wins. Would be huge for our program. For history here at Troy. We are looking forward to taking on the challenge and getting it done," said Troy safety Melvin Tyus.
Come Saturday's game against Buffalo, Troy might be close to full strength for the first time in weeks.
"Obviously Kaleb Barker will be out. Other than that, I'm hoping we will have everybody else that played this season active and ready to go in this game," Brown said.
"This is about the most healthy we've been since probably week three, four or five," said Troy running back B.J. Smith.
"We had a couple of guys banged up, everybody knows, going into that last game at Appalachian State. Those three weeks we had kind of got everybody back to 100 percent," said Troy quarterback Sawyer Smith.
This is Troy's third-straight bowl appearance and second Dollar General Bowl in three years.
The Dollar General Bowl is set for Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
Troy has won three straight games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
