TROY, AL (WSFA) - The best there ever was. That’s what this year’s Troy signing class can boast over all previous classes in school history.
Neal Brown is getting the job done as the head football coach at Troy. Not only has he produced on the field, but now for the third consecutive year, the Trojans have had a better recruiting class than the previous year.
Wednesday marked the early signing period, so not all of Troy’s commits have signed.
“We signed 16 really big-time additions to our program today,” said Brown. “A lot of credit to our recruiting staff led by Brian Bennett and to our assistant coaches for their work on this class. We ID’d our needs in this class early on in the process and did a good job of getting these guys on campus multiple times. We feel really good about them from a football standpoint, really good about them being productive student-athletes at Troy University, and I like the kind of men we’re bringing into the program from a character standpoint.”
One of the top recruits for Brown includes the no. 5 JUCO wide receiver in 6-foot-4 Khalil McClain.
In total, Troy signed 10 players who are listed as 3-star recruits by the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The Trojans inked 10 offensive guys and six on the defensive side of the ball. Of the 16 signees, eight are from Alabama, five from Georgia and three from Florida.
