Greenville bank robbery suspect sought

GREENVILLE, AL (WSFA) - A suspect is being sought by Greenville police after he robbed a bank Thursday morning.

According to Police Chief Justin Lovvorn, the suspect walked into the BancorpSouth branch on Fort Dale Road, not far from Interstate 65, around 11:30 a.m.

The suspect then passed a note to the teller demanding money, Lovvorn confirmed.

A weapon was never visible and no injuries were reported in the hold up.

The suspect left the bank in what surveillance video shows to be vehicle similar to a Honda Civic sedan. Lovvorn said the suspect actually parked at a nearby restaurant parking lot and walked over to the bank.

Lovvorn asked anyone with information on the robbery to call 334-382-7461.

Greenville police are working with the FBI and other agencies in regard to the investigation.

This is one of two bank robberies in central Alabama Thursday. The other, located in Prattville, is not connected to this case.
