Scale Back Alabama set for 2019 kickoff

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The new year is here and if one of your resolutions is to get fit, now is the time to jump on board with Scale Back Alabama.

The Alabama Hospital Association, the Alabama Department of Public Health, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama will kick off the 2019 Scale Back Alabama challenge Tuesday.

Scale Back Alabama is a free statewide weight-loss campaign designed to encourage Alabamians to get healthy and to have fun while doing it. Since it started, Alabamians have shed a collective 1 million pounds!

Scale Back Alabama is implementing a new aspect of the program this year focusing on physical activity. A personal trainer will produce weekly videos offering simple exercises to help participants reach their goals.

The competition starts with weigh-in week, Jan. 21-27. Here’s how to sign up your team. Participants must be at least 18 and live or work in Alabama.

When the challenge ends during the week of April 1-7, those who lost at least 10 pounds will have a chance to win cash prizes from $100 to $1000.
