MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Tommy Wasden was officially announced as the Faulkner football head coach last Wednesday, serving as his brother’s successor.
“I’m extremely excited about the job. This is something Shayne (Wasden) and I had talked about. Coaching together and then eventually myself having an opportunity to coach at a school like Faulkner. The guys have really accepted me well, that’s made it a lot easier so we’re looking forward to big things,” said Wasden.
Tommy Wasden has former head coaching experience at Mobile Christian. After serving as an assistant coach on the Faulkner staff for the 2018 season, he knows what he wants to be in store for the future of the Eagles.
“Any excellent football team has two things," he said. "It has excellent discipline and they play for one another. If we’re gonna be successful we need to do those things. Really getting the players playing really not for themselves, but for each other.”
Wasden and his staff are now hard at work with National Signing Day quickly approaching on Feb. 6.
