Suspect steals ambulance at Jackson Hospital

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A suspect is in custody with charges pending after stealing an ambulance in the area of Jackson Hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Montgomery police said officers responded to the 1700 block of Pine Street in regards to a stolen vehicle but did not identify the vehicle as an ambulance.

A spokesperson with Jackson Hospital said the hospital didn’t have any comment on the situation but did confirm the ambulance was in the facility’s ambulance bay when it was stolen.

Police said the vehicle was found a short distance away and that the suspect caused minor property damage when another vehicle was hit. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released.

The owner of the damaged vehicle confirmed to WSFA 12 News her automobile was struck by an ambulance, which could be seen just inside a hospital parking deck’s entrance with multiple police units nearby.
