No charges filed in shooting that injured east Montgomery store employee

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The Montgomery Police Department said no charges have been filed in a shooting that injured a Montgomery store employee Thursday.

Capt. Regina Duckett said the victim “does not wish to prosecute and the circumstances remain unknown.”

Police were called to Bryson’s Fine Jewelry Thursday afternoon after an employee was shot outside the store on Eastchase Parkway.

Bryson’s Fine Jewelry released a statement about the incident on the store’s Facebook page Thursday night, saying it was an accident.

“Two Bryson’s employees were looking at guns, unaware that there was a bullet in the chamber, when the gun went off, the bullet ricocheted off of the concrete into the chest of one employee. The bullet entered the chest and went out of the arm.,” the post stated.

The store said the injured employee was treated and released from the hospital.

Police said Thursday an employee involved was taken into custody but confirmed Friday that person was released. The store said the employee was questioned by police and “cleared.”
