16 Alabama Army National Guardsmen deploying to Afghanistan

More Alabama soldiers are heading overseas.  Sixteen Soldiers from Alabama Army National Guard units across the state have been called to active duty. The soldiers will make up an Embedded Training Team that will deploy to Afghanistan to train and mentor members of the Afghan Army.

A departure ceremony will be held Friday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Fort George C. Wallace Armory on Congressman Dickinson Drive in Montgomery.

The members of the team were selected for their knowledge and experience in particular military job specialties such as logistics, training, supply, operations, and other fields. The Guardsmen will work with members of the Afghan Army in the same jobs. They will be on active duty up to 12 months.
