BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Madison Academy's Kerron Johnson and Bob Jones High School's Jala Harris received the state's top prep basketball honors.
The Alabama Sports Writers Associated picked Johnson as Mr. Basketball and Harris as Miss Basketball at its awards banquet Thursday at The Birmingham News.
They were the top vote getters among the Super Five selections by the group's prep committee.
Only players of the year in each class were eligible for the honors.
Johnson helped lead the Mustangs to three Class 3A titles and a runner-up finish.
He averaged 24 points, six assists and five rebounds per game as a senior.
Harris is a five-year starter.
She averaged 16 points and eight assists last season and led the Patriots to the Class 6A title.
