Alabama to pay Grant $1.8M in 7-year deal

Posted: Updated:

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - New Alabama basketball coach Anthony Grant will receive a seven-year deal worth nearly $2 million annually.

The university released details of the contract, which still must be approved by the Board of Trustees' Compensation committee.

Grant will make $1.8 million a year, most of it from talent fees.

The deal includes a buyout that equals the base salary multiplied by the number of years left on the contract if Grant leaves or is fired.

The contract is to be renegotiated after three years.
