MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - State lawmakers have given the final ok to a bill to put the name of former Alabama State University Trustee, Joe Reed, back on the school's basketball arena.
The Alabama House approved the bill on Tuesday. The Senate has already approved the legislation. The bill does not require ASU to put the name back on the Acadome. It now goes to the Governor for him to decide on it.
The ASU Board removed Reed's name from the Acadome last year because they said he was bringing negative publicity to the school.
WSFA 12 News has learned there is a ASU Board meeting on Friday. As of right now, the issue isn't on the agenda.
