Troy makes it easier to get a 4-year degree

Posted: Updated:

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Community college students who want to earn a four-year university degree without having to leave home will have that chance under a partnership between Troy University and Alabama's two-year college system.

Troy University Chancellor Jack Hawkins Jr., Postsecondary Chancellor Bradley Byrne and Gov. Bob Riley announced the plan Wednesday during a Montgomery news conference.

The plan would allow two-year college graduates to complete a four-year degree at Troy through a distance learning program called "eConnections."

Byrne said the graduates would take the classes they need for the four-year degree over the Internet.

Byrne said the program would allow students who cannot leave home for health, family or other reasons to complete their four-year degree.
