MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Congressman Artur Davis (D-Bham) issued a statement in response to Chancellor Byrne's decision to seek the Republican nomination in the 2010 Alabama Governor's race.
"Bradley Byrne will be a formidable candidate for Governor," Davis said. "While the differences between all of us in this race will develop over the course of this campaign, Chancellor Byrne has been a decent, thoughtful voice within his party and he should be congratulated for offering himself for service. My family and I wish him and his family well as we all make our case as to who can best move our state forward" added Davis.
Davis announced his Democratic candidacy for governor in early February. He seeks to become the first black to win Alabama's top office.
