DICKINSON, N.D. (AP) - Bail has been set at $1 million for a man suspected of robbing a Dickinson movie store and shooting at an officer after escaping from an Alabama prison.
Ashton Mink's bail hearing came a day after he was transferred from a hospital to jail. Stark County prosecutor Tom Henning said Mink asked Judge William Herauf to appoint an attorney for him.
Mink and three others were arrested June 6, after a nearly 14-hour standoff on a ranch south of Gladstone. Authorities say Mink and his wife, Jacquelin, were wounded in an exchange of gunfire.
Jacquelin Mink remains hospitalized in Bismarck. The couple, along with Ashton Mink's sister Angela and Joshua Southwick, face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit robbery.
Authorities say Southwick and Ashton Mink escaped from an Alabama prison in May and that Angela and Jacquelin Mink helped them.
