MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - From 12:01am, Friday, July 3, 2009 to 12:00 midnight, Sunday, July 5, 2009 Alabama State Troopers made 152 DUI arrests, issued 3004 citations for speeding, 1094 for seat belt violations, 84 for child restraint violations and assisted 157 motorists.
The following is a breakdown of Trooper investigated crashes for 7/2/2009 - 7/5/2009:
7/2/2009 - None
7/3/2009 - 1 (occurred in Wilcox County). Initial indications are that speeding & failure to wear seat belt were factors.
7/4/2009 - None
7/5/2009 - 2 (1 in Marion Co & 1 in Pike Co). Initial indications are that both were alcohol related. Also, speeding and failure to wear seat belts are believed to be factors.
