DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - An interim police chief is now in place for the city of Dothan two weeks after the current chief resigned for another position in Florida.
City Manager Michael K. West selected Captain Larry Draughon to serve in the position Wednesday.
The City Commission will have to confirm Draughon's appointment at the commission meeting next Tuesday, August 25.
Captain Draughon, who has 32 years of experience with the police department, is not applying for the vacated position, however.
The City Manager's search for a new police chief is expected to take approximately 120 days.
