Tuskegee Univ. ranked No. 1

TUSKEGEE, AL (WSFA) - Tuskegee University students have some news of which they can be proud. Their university was recently ranked No. 1 institution in the state of Alabama and No. 6 in the nation among historically black institutions by U.S. News and World Report.

Tuskegee, which is regularly ranked for its high academic standards and programs, also received the No. 7 spot in the South for the Best Baccalaureate College and No. 8 in the South for Great Schools, Great Prices.

"Our administration, faculty and staff work diligently to get things done right, and in the spirit of excellence and service," said Dr. Benjamin F. Payton, Tuskegee University President. "We are pleased to see the results of our efforts recognized nationally."

Tuskegee University is a comprehensive institution, offering bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in 56 majors.  The University also offers the only School of Veterinary Medicine among HBCUs and an accredited program in aerospace science engineering. Tuskegee is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
