DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - The NGA Hooters pro golf tour is making a stop in the wiregrass this week.

For the 7th year in a row The Hooters Tour is rolling into the circle city.  168 golfers will be teeing off in the Annual Dothan Classic.

"We're always excited to be back, the golf course is a great test for our golfers and the community always gets behind the tournament," says Todd Barbee, tournament director for the Hooters Tour.

This year's field will showcase their talents at the Robert Trent Jones Course Highland Oaks.

"It's just a complete golf course and the players really enjoy it," adds Barbee.

"Anytime a tour wants to come to your facility it's a good thing," explains Mike Barber, director of golf for Highland Oaks.

The weeklong event brings in more than a hundred thousand dollars to the community, as well a portion of the tournaments proceeds go to local charity.

"For local businesses and hotels and things like that it brings business to them and it does keep our golf course in a professional tournament condition and it keeps us possibly in the running for a larger tour down the road," says Barber.

Volunteers are needed for the tournament, if you'd like to volunteer call Highland Oaks at 712-2820.
