MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State University has confirmed the resignation of the university's athletic director, Monique Holland.
ASU released the following statement a few minutes ago:
"Monique Holland has resigned as Alabama State University's athletic director. She has told us that she has enjoyed her time in both her capacities within the athletic department at ASU and is moving on to do other things. Although the university is sorry to see her leave, we are grateful for her leadership role at ASU and wish her well in all her future endeavors."
Sources tell WSFA 12 News that Holland resigned to persue a job at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
The position is said to be in the athletic department, but the exact position was not immediately known.
Holland was named ASU's athletic director in December, 2008. She'd previously held the associate director of athletics position with the Hornets.
