TEA Party protestors gather to discuss D.C. rally

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - They came by the dozens, from all over the River Region.

Residents gathered at Deja Vu Billiards to voice their concerns about big government. and trying to do something about it.

Many of the people in attendance packed into busses just days before.  Their goal: to take their fight to lawmakers' front steps.

"The fact is this is a genuine, grassroots movement by people--I guess I should say--who are mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore," explained Alex Harwick of Tallassee.

Now back at home, a slide show presents their journey and the massive movement for change in Washington.

"I think it's wonderful that we had the opportunity to express ourselves," Harwick said.

"It was a group of people that had one common thread, and that was to see change in the right direction," said Sue Stanfield of Titus.

Travelers brought back the pictures and memories to the people who couldn't make the trip but are still concerned about the future of their country.

"I try the best I can to try to get involved and inform others," said Steve Pierce of Montgomery.

"My husband fought in Vietnam. My son fought in Desert Storm, and I'm not about to let that all that go in vain," explained Charlotte Young of Deatsville.

With one major demonstration behind them, protestors say they're ready for whatever comes their way.

"I think this is just the beginning of the fight," Young said.

"Everybody's excited. Everybody's enthusiastic. They're looking forward to change we can believe in," Harwick explained.

"Tune in, see what's going on, get involved, and help us take our country back," Pierce exclaimed.
