GREENVILLE, AL (WSFA) - The Hayneville police chief was arrested and charged in Butler County.

Chief Kelvin Mitchell is out on bond after being booked for menacing and harassment.

Lowndes County Sheriff Chip Williams signed a warrant against Chief Mitchell.

Williams says Mitchell threatened him and even drew his gun on the sheriff during a task force meeting at the Butler County Courthouse.

A court date will be set and the Mitchell will go to trial.

WSFA 12 News left messages with Sheriff Williams's office and the Hayneville mayor's office. We are waiting to hear back.
