OPP, AL (WSFA) - Two children were transported to Opp Mizell Memorial Hospital Thursday following a school bus vs. car accident. Their injuries were considered non-life threatening.
A third student was later taken to the hospital by school personnel. That child also had non-life threatening injuries.
The accident happened around 2:50pm as the Opp school bus traveled south on Highway 331. When the bus turned east onto Jeffcoat Avenue a 2000 model Buick Century ran into the side of the bus.
The driver of the Buick was trapped inside the vehicle and the jaws-of-life had to be used to cut them from the wreckage. Though the person was not immediately identified, officials say they were taken to the hospital with "serious" injuries.
