MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - An early morning tractor trailer fire on I-65 North between mile markers 141 and 142 in Lowndes County caused traffic to remain backed nearly all day.

Troopers confirmed they reopened both lanes at approximately 3:00pm.

The shutdown started around 7:30am when a trucker said flames started shooting out of the engine compartment of his rig.

Troopers shutdown both lanes of traffic and within an hour had at least one reopened.

The opening didn't last long, however. At 10:30 the fire flared up once again forcing the reclosure of both lanes.

Traffic remained back up for at least 5 miles during the incident.
