Superbowl holds special meaning for Selma High students

The No. 3 Alabama football team took advantage of five turnovers by No. 20 Mississippi in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, beating the Rebels 22-3. The Crimson Tide's total included five field goals by senior Leigh Tiffin, who moves to second all-time for the Crimson Tide in made field goals. Tiffin, with 67 career field goals, trails school record holder Philip Doyle by 11.

Alabama's defense was dominating, limiting Mississippi to just 19 yards of total offense in the first half and 193 on the day. Four different UA defenders grabbed interceptions including Kareem Jackson's 79-yard interception return, the 10^th longest in school history. The Crimson Tide offense rolled up 355 yards of total offense led by 190 yards by sophomore running back Mark Ingram who scored the Tide's lone touchdown on the day. Alabama returns to Tuscaloosa next weekend to take on South Carolina for Homecoming.
