TALLASSEE, AL (WSFA) - There were some teary eyes in Tallassee as families and friends welcomed home members of the Army National Guard's 158th Maintenance Company after a long deployment to Iraq.

It was the 158th's job to retrieve and repair humvees, trucks and other military vehicles on the battlefield. They were gone for about a year.

"To see your family when you are away for so long, and your finally here, it's just one of the best feelings in the world", said Guardsman Scoot Steele.

Wives, husbands and children were there to welcome their loved ones home as they got off the bus at Fort Dewey Piper Armory in Tallassee.

As you may remember last year, the 158th was able to come home for a short Thanksgiving break. Their spouses raised 10-thousand dollars to help pay for the trip.
