TALLASSEE, AL (WSFA) - Several Macon County residents are under arrest on of distributing drugs, trafficking in cocaine, and conspiracy to commit various drug crimes, as well as failing to affix tax stamps to various illegal drugs.
E. Paul Jones, District Attorney of the the Fifth Judicial Circuit, announced the arrests Friday.
Arrested were Terence Merchant, Aaron Merchant, Kimberly (Kim) Merchant, Sylvester Nettles, Curtis Walton, and Twana Barnhart Reynolds all of Macon County.
Jones said the arrests were the result of an extensive, months long investigation by agents of the ABI and the Tallassee Narcotics unit, with assistance by the Tallapoosa County Drug Task Force.
"As usual, these officers did an excellent job conducting a very lengthy and very involved investigation over a period of several months", said Jones. "We can't express enough appreciation for the hard work and dedication of these officers. They literally put their lives on the line in these undercover investigations."
"On behalf of all the officers involved in this investigation, we thank Sheriff David Warren of Macon County and Sheriff Jimmy Abbett of Tallapoosa County for all the support they give the investigators in cases such as this," stated Jones.
