NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An Alabama woman has been indicted on charges of kidnapping a Tennessee newborn.

Tammy Renee Silas has been in custody since Oct. 2 after police found the week-old infant, Yahir Anthony Carrillo, at her home in Ardmore, Ala. He was kidnapped and his mother stabbed three days earlier at their Nashville home.

Court filings made available on Thursday show the grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday. That was the day after Her attorney told a judge that the 39-year-old Silas had tried commit suicide in jail and that certain mental health medications have been withheld from her.

Silas wasn't indicted on any charges related to the stabbing of the mother, Maria Gurrola.
