The Fort Hood shooting death toll rises to 13

Fort Hood, Texas (WSFA) - The death toll in the largest shooting on an American military base is now 13. Lt. Gen. Robert Cone said the alleged gunman Major Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire on a military processing center at Fort Hood killing 13 and wounding 30. Among the wounded are at least two Alabama soldiers. One from Birmingham and the other from Elmore county. Anyone with family stationed in Fort Hood can call 1-866-836-2751 for more information.

Just in: The National Guard in Montgomery says the wounded Alabama soldier at Foot Hood, Texas is Major Randy Royer.

We are working to get where he is from in Alabama.

Hasan, a practicing psychiatrist at Darnall Army Medical Center, apartment has been searched by the the FBI, local police and other agencies. Officials haven't said what was found. Hasan is in stable condition after being shot four times.

Military bases closer to home issued statements on the shooting:

Fort Rucker said "They take force protection seriously and will remain viligant to protect soldiers there. And Maxwell Air Force base said "They have taken 'prudent measures' after the shooting. Visitors should expect delays at the gates."

The House of Representatives took a moment in silence to honor the viictims of the shooting. Alabama representatives Mike Rogers and Bobby Bright released statements in response to the massacre.

Mike Rogers said, "The incident is a terrible tragedy and everyone should pray for the families of the victims..."          

Bobby Bright said, "As someone who represents two military bases, he can only imagine the loss at Fort Hood... his thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.
