MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama Power says it has opened spillway gates at its Coosa River dams to help manage rising lake levels.

Heavy rains from once Tropical Storm Ida are the reason for the move.

Gates at Henry, Logan Martin, Lay, Mitchell and Jordan dams are now open and two storage reservoirs on the Coosa are expected to rise above their summer pool levels (Weiss Lake and Logan Martin Lake).

People who own property or equipment around those two reservoirs should take appropriate actions warns Alabama Power.

Alabama Power has a website set up to keep the public informed of lake conditions. That information is available at https://lakes.alabamapower.com. You can also call 1-800-LAKES11.
