Ala. board won't split Enterprise-Ozark

Posted: Updated:

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The State Board of Education has decided not to split Enterprise-Ozark Community College into two schools. Instead, it's changing the name.

The board had been talking about splitting the community college for more than a year because the Ozark campus focuses on aviation and Enterprise is a traditional two-year college. Board members said Thursday that state budget cuts make the split impossible.

The board voted Thursday to change the name to Enterprise State Community College. The Ozark campus will be known as the Alabama Aviation Center, a unit of Enterprise State Community College.

The board said the name change does not alter the current administration or the mission of the campuses.
