DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) – As the population in the wiregrass continues to age, the Southeast Alabama Medical Center is working to meet the growing need for increased cardiovascular service.

“The medical center exists to serve the public and the patients of this community and we have always prided ourselves in being able to provide new services and to expand those that are needed,” says Ron Owen, CEO of the SAMC.

The medical center is renovating and relocating its cardiac catheterization, vascular testing, and other support functions within the hospital.

As well they’re adding more space for consultation and non invasive testing.

The work is the third phase of a project that began a few years ago.

The total cost of the renovation is 18 million dollars.
