ABBEVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A Henry County jury has found a 69-year-old Missouri woman not guilty of charges stemming from a highway crash that killed a former Dothan high school principal.
Assistant District Attorney Nereida Bundy says Donna Brown of Joplin, Mo., was driving a tractor-trailer that was involved in a collision with a car driven by James Smith on U.S. 431 in 2002.
Bundy says the jury deliberated a couple of hours on Tuesday before returning the acquittal.
The Dothan Eagle reports that court records show Brown was indicted in 2004 on a vehicular homicide charge. Prosecutors said she failed to wear glasses and made an improper turn.
Bundy said the crash happened in front of a yeast plant near Newville. Smith formerly served as the principal of the Northview High School in Dothan.
