Nicrosi enters Ala. AG race

Posted: Updated:

Mobile, AL. - A veteran federal prosecutor and former Chief of the Criminal Division in Alabama's souther district is officially in the running to be Alabama's next attorney general.

Michel Nicrosi, a federal prosecutor for 16 years, established her campaign committee Thursday and is set to challenge incumbent Troy King for the job.

“If we want to finally clean up this state and keep our families safe, we don’t need another politician as Attorney General. We’ve had plenty of those. We need a prosecutor,” Nicrosi said. “That’s what I’ve been for most of my adult life.”

Nicrosi, a Montgomery native, graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from the University of Alabama and is a graduate of the University of Alabama’s School of Law.

She joined the United States Department of Justice in Washington after law school.

Two years after returning to Alabama in 1995 she was named Chief of the Criminal Division in the United States Attorney’s office in Alabama’s southern district two.  She's been honored as one of top five Federal Attorneys in America under the age of 36.

Michel lives in Daphne with her husband Ben Harris III and their young son, Ben.
