MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - An Auburn man will spend the next 17 years in prison on child pornography convictions. Casey Dean Barger, 35, admitted to receiving and distributing the pornographic material in July.
Barger first caught the attention of law enforcement officials in 2006 when federal agents learned he was running a commercial website with thousands of images and videos of minors.
A federal search warrant issued on his home netted two computers with nearly 500 movies and "numerous" images of prepubescent children being raped or otherwise sexually abused. Some were as young as toddlers and infants.
Barger was sharing the images via the peer-to-peer file sharing software, Limewire.
After being indicted on child porn charges, authorities moved in and arrested Barger in October, 2008. At the time of his arrest authorities found yet a third computer with child pornography on its hard drive.
Officials with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children have identified at least three dozen children from the seized material, many known child victims from other states or countries.
