Andalusia, AL (WSFA) – A tenant in Andalusia's South Alabama Regional Airport has broken its lease and vacated two hangars.
EJM, a company that provides maintenance for governmental aircraft, was under contract to be at the airport until 2011 and still owes more than $700,000.
Airport officials say, the sudden departure left a huge dept for the airport authority.
SARA Administrator Jed Blackwell said, “It's a huge financial burden for the airport. Right now, we have enough money saved up that we can make the payments through January of 2010. But after that ,we would have to rely on some assistance from Andalusia, Opp, and the Covington County Commissioners to help us fulfill our obligation on that payment."
Officials say, since the hangar is in such good condition, they hope that helps them find another tenant before then.
