MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) will close the two southbound inside lanes of Interstate 65 in Hoover this weekend as part of the ongoing maintenance of Birmingham area interstates.

The closure begins at 11 p.m. tonight. The lanes are to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday. The lanes are being closed to allow ALDOT crews to repair concrete pavement that will take a minimum of 14 hours to cue.

The repairs will begin on I-65 southbound from milepost 252 at the U.S. 31 Interchange in Hoover to milepost 250, at the I-459 Interchange.

ALDOT spokesman Tony. W. Harris tells WSFA 12 News that there's also some major interstate repairs going on in Etowah County on I-59, and a major construction project to add lanes to I-20 in St Clair County.
