AU hopes to wreck Alabama's perfect season

Associated Press - November 22, 2009 6:54 PM ET

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - No. 2 Alabama's coach Nick Saban isn't 1 of the many in that state who believe the Iron Bowl makes or breaks a season.

But he says it's very important "for a lot of reasons and for a lot of people."

The Crimson Tide (11-0, 7-0 Southeastern Conference) carries its perfect record and national championship hopes into Friday's Iron Bowl at Auburn (7-4, 3-4).

The Tigers would love to deal a blow to the Tide's national title hopes and better their own bowl prospects. Not to mention finding some redemption after Alabama emphatically ended Auburn's 6-year Iron Bowl winning streak with a 36-0 thrashing last season.

Auburn tight end Tommy Trott says the Tigers would "love nothing more than to wreck an undefeated season" for their top rival.
