Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - Dr. Barry Carpenter preached his last sermon Sunday morning at Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church.
Frazer did not allow cameras in the service, but we know Carpenter focused on the importance of following Christ.
He also thanked his wife, with whom he celebrated his wedding anniversary this week.
The congregation gave him a standing ovation, thanking him for his two years of service.
Carpenter replaced long-time pastor John Ed Mathison at Frazer, which is the city's largest congregation.
He now will go on leave, pending reappointment to another church within the Methodist denomination.
