MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama announced Tuesday that is nearing a production milestone.
The Montgomery plant says it will put the finishing touches on its one millionth vehicle on November 30. WSFA 12 News plans to have cameras on-hand for the event.
The exact model is not yet known, but when it rolls off the line sometime around 10:00am that morning HMMA President and CEO H.I. Kim and Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange will be inside.
Strange will be joined by other elected officials, Hyundai team members, community leaders and HMMA suppliers to mark the occasion.
The $1.4 billion plant is the South Korean car manufacturer's first in North America. It employees more than 3,000 Alabamians who make the Sonata sedan and Santa Fe SUV.
