MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -  State Treasurer Kate Ivey offers a funding solution for the Pre-paid Affordable College Tuition program deficit. In a live interview on Today in Alabama this morning, Ivey introduced the "Keeping the Commitment" plan that should put money back into the program, but not increase taxes.

Ivey said "the plan will ensure all college students' parents that their children will get a quality education."

She said, "the funding solution for the program will come from PACT assets and not tax funds."

In response to the question can parents who have invested in the program know for sure their money is safe, she said, "the state has an obligation and commitment to honor all contracts made over the years. Through a partnership among the state, parents, and students, the plan should work.

She encouraged parents to stay tune and informed about the proposal by going to www.800alaPACT.com

Kate Ivey will announce the details of "Keeping the Commitment" proposal at a news conference today in Montgomery at 1:00 p.m.

WSFA 12 News will bring you complete coverage of the event.
