MONTGOMERY, AL (AP) - A former Holt High School principal and his wife have been arrested in the ongoing probe of Alabama's community college system.

The Opelika couple, 74-year-old Jimmie Clements and 52-year-old Dana Clements, are charged with theft of checks or money valued at more than $2,500 from the state and from Southern Union Community College.

They also are charged with theft by deception of checks or money valued at more than $2,500, also from Southern Union, which has campuses in Opelika, Wadley and Valley. They were released from the Lee County Jail Monday on $20,000 bond each.

The Clements were named in a Department of Postsecondary Education report issued in the fall of 2007 that outlined allegations of wrongdoing at the two-year college while Susan Salatto was president.
