MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - As time ticks away, Senate democrats stand confident they have the 60 votes needed to pass their version of healthcare reform.
Lawmakers successfully passed a second test vote Tuesday.
Things are still getting heated.
"These special deals in this bill aren't special. They're the same old crap," exclaims Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
GOP members are along for the ride, frustrated by the scheduled 8:00 AM vote on Thursday and the political methods used to secure the super majority.
Alabama Congressman Parker Griffith today chastised democrats and made the decision to switch to the Republican party.
"This is not about politics. It's about a conviction that I had that America's on the wrong track and the leadership in the Congress is taking us down the wrong road," Griffith said.
Things could get tricky when lawmakers have to combine senate and house versions of the bill.
Democratic Congressman Bobby Bright says the partisanship has to stop.
"If we had more in the Senate and more in the House that would do that, you'd see our country stabilize and our economy get stronger, and we'd move forward," Bright explained.
