STARKVILLE, MISSISSIPPI (WSFA) - Investigators in Mississippi are trying to figure out what started an apartment fire that killed three women and nine children. The children were between the ages of four months and six-years-old.
All nine victims lived in the Starkville apartment complex. The fire is considered the worst fire in Starkville's recent memory.
Mississippi fire chief Rodger Mann said, " I can't speculate as to why no one got out or anything. We don't know if everyone was asleep or anything."
An official cause of the fire has not been released, but investigators believe it started in the living room.
