AUTAUGAVILLE, AL (WSFA) - Marine police say they found the body of a second person who went missing after a boat capsized in Autauga County Thursday afternoon. Neither victim has been identified.
Police say the victims, two brothers, were dropped off by their father at Strickland's Landing in Autaugaville so they could go fishing. A small metal boat was later found capsized in the water.
A search and rescue effort was started, but emergency responders' hopes were quickly dashed when they located the body of a 19-year-old. As the investigation progressed crews discovered there may have been two people in the boat. A search continued until nightfall when authorities decided it was time to call off the search until Friday.
The second body was found in nine feet of freezing cold water Friday morning. Investigators said it does not take long for a person's body to shut down in 30 degree water.
A pair of pants and a wallet were found near the boat Thursday, but it wasn't immediately known to whom the items belonged.
WSFA 12 News will have more information as it becomes available.
