MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

It's another step in the brain-twisting beef battle between Beasley Allen Law Firm and Taco Bell. Both sides claim victory, and the only thing perfectly clear at this point is that the lawsuit against Taco Bell's beef has been dropped and no money changed hands in the process.

The class-action lawsuit filed by Beasley Allen on behalf of California resident, Amanda Obney, shook the fast food world back in January when it alleged the filling Taco Bell uses in its beef products does not meet the USDA's minimum requirements to be called "beef."

The lawsuit called for the fast food group to either beef up its "beef" or call it for what Beasley Allen believed it to be, "Taco Meat Filling."

The response from Taco Bell was short, and to the point, "Thank you for suing us."

Taco Bell stood by its product saying the company was, "proud of the quality of its product" and said Taco Bell identifies all its seasonings and spices on its website.

The company said the lawsuit had no basis and that the lawyers involved in the case decided to "sue first and ask questions later," and that they "got their 'facts' absolutely wrong."

Now, both sides agree on one thing, the lawsuit has been dropped. But that's where the agreement ends.

Beasley Allen says the lawsuit was dropped because of "changes in marketing and product disclosure" by Taco Bell. Taco Bell claims they're not making any changes to their product or advertising and that the suit was voluntarily dropped by Beasley Allen.

Greg Creed, Chief Executive Officer for Taco Bell said this is a major victory for his company.

"This is a victory for truth over fiction and we're glad the lawyers voluntarily withdrew their case once they learned the truth." said Creed.

Since the lawsuit did not seek any money from the company, only changes in product marketing or composition, no money changed hands. The lawsuit was just dropped. And the two sides can't seem to agree on why it was dropped.

WSFA 12 News has contacted both Beasley Allen Law Firm and Taco Bell for information on the discrepancy between the reason behind the lawsuit's demise. Taco Bell says it stands by its product and is pleased the suit was dropped. Beasley Allen was not immediately available for comment.
